She’s Fantastic!

“Barbiecore has a home in my wardrobe…”

Ever so often, I reminisce on how excited I was in the summer of 2023, basking in the air of Barbiecore and swimming in a sea of pink. Everywhere you turned, you were reminded that the release of the (billion dollar making) film was on our doorstep and as an avid fan, I was ecstatic to say the least.

Earrings: Temu

Barbiecore has a home in my wardrobe, not just because of the summer of 2023 but because it's always been one of the very many fashion trends I've truly enjoyed and has felt so akin to my personality - unapologetically feminine, bright and vibrant. It's what inspired this shoot I did last year to update my LinkedIn profile with the incomparable photographer and my friend, Iyin. Iyin's POV is truly next to none and it captured the clean yet fun aesthetic I was going for perfectly.

Skirt Suit: Pretty Little Thing

I'm a huge advocate of bringing yourself to work and allowing your personality to be on display. My love for pink and all things girly has been fully on display at work for a minute, I mean my entire desk is filled with pink trinkets and appliances; let's just say I'm living my best 'Legally Blonde-esque' life at work. It helps remind me that as much as it's a corporate environment, I don't have to wear a mask or perform, I can be the woman God designed me to be with all the interests, quirks and traits He's blessed me with.

This shoot represents that. Yes, I wanted to have some 'professional, work-focused pictures' but there was no way you'd catch me doing that in a dark-coloured suit (no disrespect to those that love that) cause I GOTTA PUT ME FIRST LUCIOUS and be myself in every room I walk into. Say it with me, ladies & gents, au-then-ti-ci-ty

A special thanks to Iyin for capturing this and making our shoot so fun, all I remember is laughter and great chats. Please go ahead and book my good sis - you shan't regret it.

This shoot was done on a rainy/dull day in April. Although it was slightly chilly, I didn’t spend a lot of time outdoors and so shooting in this outfit felt reasonable. Studios can be cold at times and so I was mindful that this outfit gave a lot of leg but thankfully the shoot was a quick one which meant I could get changed into something warmer almost immediately. Overall, I felt quite comfortable, so I would say this was a good day in the mobility dressing department.
